A Step Ahead of Middle Tennessee prevents unplanned pregnancies by providing education about and access to free, long-acting reversible contraception (LARC).
LARC is provider-placed, over 99% effective, and is known as a mistake-free, worry-free birth control method. It is recommended as the most effective, reversible contraception by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Did you know on average, women spend just 3 years pregnant/postpartum/planning pregnancy but 3 decades trying to prevent pregnancy? Additionally, 1 in 4 women cannot afford their contraceptive method of choice. Donations to A Step Ahead remove the financial barrier around LARC, which can cost $1,500 for those uninsured, and will help sustain our growing demand for free access to contraceptive healthcare.
When people are educated about and provided access to LARC, opportunity is created: the opportunity to earn a college degree, maintain steady employment, increase happiness in the home, space children, or improve birth outcomes.
A Step Ahead Foundation of Middle Tennessee is a public charity, exempt from income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code, and is eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions.
