What's New Before The New Year

We can all agree that 2020 has been a very unusual year, but we want to reflect on the positive new additions that have come to us this year.

When we began sharing our resources in 2016 our coverage included the 7 central counties, Davidson and the 6 touching, in middle Tennessee. We have since then served more than 1,200 women! We have loved watching those numbers rise every year, but we wanted to grow and be able to help even more families in our community. Especially since June, there has been a 142% increase in women seeking our services for their future planning.

In October of this year, our dreams to grow came true and we expanded to a total of 18 counties in middle Tennessee! Which means to receive our services, the only requirement is to reside or attend a school in one of the following counties: Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Davidson, DeKalb, Dickson, Hickman, Macon, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson, or Wilson.

With this county expansion we will also be expanding our partner clinics outside of Davidson County in 2021, so stay tuned for more information on that. The newest clinic to be added to our partners is Neighborhood Health at Madison. We are happy to be a little further north of Nashville to allow for ease of current clients coming in from northern counties.

An additional excitement of 2020 has been bringing in an additional staff member, Ashley Hullett! Ashley is our new Community Outreach Coordinator and as a native Tennessean brings great connections, ideas, and care to the A Step Ahead staff. Ashley came to us from Neighborhood Health where she had been working in Women’s Health for the past six years. In her time working in healthcare, she became a huge advocate for LARC and a longtime supporter of A Step Ahead. She has a strong passion for community care especially with an emphasis on Women’s Health. She strives to ensure that the women with whom she comes in contact have knowledge about and access to the resources available to them in their own communities.

Ashley wakes up every day excited and eager to connect with women in Middle Tennessee and empower them to take charge and plan their futures and their pregnancies. In her free time, she enjoys attending music festivals and concerts, traveling with friends as often as possible, producing and editing podcasts, and couch cuddles with her two dogs and two cats!
